With a BA in Sociology, I’ve always been drawn to the subtle ways in which we shape society, and how, in turn, it shapes us. Model Citizens is the intersection between my love for design and social insight, and a reverence for the slow, sustainable, and intentional.
On average, a piece of clothing is only worn seven times before it is tossed away. This statistic troubled me, and was the impetus behind my desire to create Model Citizens.
In an age of fast fashion and even faster living, where trends appear and vanish like footprints in the tide, Model Citizens offers a gentle countercurrent. A reminder to pause. To slow down, to live with intention, and to choose with care. To honour the intimate relationship between what we wear and who we want to be.
